Hazardous Goods Training (ADR)

Refresher Courses

Anyone transporting dangerous goods by road in most road tankers, tank containers, in bulk and a certain amount of dangerous goods by road in in-scope packages (i.e. in recepticles over certain sizes - separate limited quantities are allocated to each product).

Attendance of a course must be carried out by approved training providers, is a legal requirement and counts as part of a drivers' hours. each trainer is individually approved by SQA and comes from industry background.

A driver must attend a Department for Transport approved course and pass SQA exams to refresh an ADR certificate. This can be taken 12 months before expiry date. NOTE: drivers must allow at least 3 months before expiry.

Successful delegates are given a further 5 years but must sitan initial course in any failed modules at least 30 working days before expiry of ADR. The number of days depends on the modules already held and the modules which the driver wants to refresh.

FULL ADR (5 day) - Core, Packages, Tankers, Classes 2-6, 8 & 9

This course counts 28 hours towards the Driver CPC and will enable a driver to transport all types of dangerous goods with the exception of Explosives (Class 1) and Radioactives (Class 7).

BASIC ADR (3.5 day) - Core, packages, Classes 2-6, 8 & 9

We have designed this to suit those who do not currently have an ADR licence and completion of this course will allow you to transport all types of dangerous goods with the exception of Explosives (Class 1) and Radioactives (Class 7)but only as Packages. It also counts as 21 hours towards your Driver CPC - this is at an additional cost and must be requested before the end of the course.

Refresher ADR Courses

ADR Licences expire every 5 yearsand therefore must be refreshed within the last year of the licence. This is done by attending a Refresher ADR Course. This course can also count 7 hours towards the Driver CPC at an additional cost and must be requested before the course commences. Candidates must have a miniumum of 6 weeks left on their current ADR licence to site a refresher course. If there is less than 6 weeks left on the licence candidates must attend an initial course.
